QuakeNet reaches the 150,000 User mark
EUROPE –8 December, 2002 – QuakeNet tonight confirmed it's position as the world's largest games chat network, with more than 151,000 game players online and chatting concurrently on the IRC network.

QuakeNet, which has more than 250,000 registered users, is home to the largest and most dynamic games-related IRC community in the world, and currently has approximately 50 chat servers installed at major ISP's across Europe and the US.

QuakeNet has a daily average of a little over 139,000 concurrent users* (that's average users all connected at the same time), with its nearest rival IRCNet on an average of 120,000. QuakeNet has added an extra 50,000 users - or one third of it's current user base - in the last three months alone, and continues to grow at an astonishing rate.

With the forthcoming release of Asuka, the new version of the IRC Server, QuakeNet will be able to double it's capacity overnight, as one of the primary features of Asuka is it's ability to handle more than twice the number of users per server as current IRC Server.
