Amateria -- Myst III: Exile's Oriental Age - 9 New Screenshots

Following is the next Age in the upcoming game, Myst III: Exile for Xbox and PS2 -- the "Amateria Cavern." Each Age in Myst III: Exile was designed by a different designer, so the Ages all have a very distinctive look and feel. Amateria has a very oriental feel with extensive basalt columns, Japanese architecture, and glowing crystal formations.
Hidden within the Ages' caverns and coves are paintings from Saavedro, the game's villain. The painting is an example of how the story evolves gradually while playing the game. There are numerous story elements, such as pages from the villain's journal, scattered through the Ages that players will find as they explore and solve puzzles, until eventually they will assemble the entire story. Note that since the game is nonlinear, each player will assemble the story in a unique order.
In Amateria, players will walk encounter the Spider Spinner, walking into one of the rings, lets players experience the resonance effect in the ring.
The Xbox and PS2 consoles allow for the visual resonance effect and the controller vibrations to synch to match the sound playing in the background. The effects actually sample the current frequency of the sound and adjusts its ripples accordingly.
