Video Games Business Convention

The Game Connection 2002, the European Business Convention dedicated to financing Game Projects will take place in Lyon on the 4th and 5th of December 2002. It’s goal is to bring together 50 of the best independent game developers and the top 40 publishers.

Organized by Lyon Game, this convention allows developers, with projects, to meet, within a professional and confidential framework, publishers in search of original products or for a game developer to obtain a licence. Each developer will dispose of a closed stand on which it can present its products to the publishers in private meetings.

After the success of the first edition in 2001, intended for French development studios, Game Connection 2002 opens its doors to the European developers and reinforces the presence of publishers, main financer of the videogame industry.

«Unique event of its kind, on a world level, the Game Connection aims at supporting the sector of the video game in the delicate phase of creation. This year, according to the importance of the request, we launch a call to projects in order to select the 50 best European developers. Competition between the studios will be tight, and the European selection committee will have hard work to release from the request the 50 studios carrying the best projects of videogames for the years to come …», explains Pierre Carde, Lyon Game’s General coordinator.

This event is supported by the lead suppliers in the production of video games, including Criterion software, first middleware provider in the world with Renderware and Alias Wavefront’s, Maya software, award-winning 3D animation and visual effects package, as well as DL Multimedia, Havok, Grand Lyon and the Rhône Alps Region.

To take part in Game Connection 2002, the companies must withdraw their inscription file on the Web site of Game Connection (www.game-connection.net) and return it before October 15th, 2002. The results of the selection will be announced on October 20th, 2002.
