Sony Announces Tentative Launch Date for PS3

Sony announced today that the Playstation 3 will likely debut in the summer of 2005 in Japan. Sony, Toshiba and IBM are jointly developing the Playstation 3, as the costs of the PS3 will likely be hard for a single company to shoulder. Sony claims that the PS3 will have 1000 times the processing power of the PS2 play PS2 games, and retail for under $400.
This means Microsoft will likely move up the launch of X2 to 2005.
