Battlestar Galactica
Posted by Bagel on Monday, April 28 2003

Warthog plc, the interactive entertainment software group, today announces that it has been commissioned by Vivendi Universal Games (VU Games) to create a multi-platform video game based around the classic science fiction TV series, Battlestar Galactica. This is the first time that the franchise has appeared on a games console.

The interactive game, for PS2 and Xbox, is a story-driven space action-adventure that takes place at the end of the Cylon-Colonial Wars, 40 years prior to the setting of the original TV series. In the game, players will assume the role of Ensign William Adama in his critical first assignment as a pilot aboard the great warship Battlestar Galactica.

The game will be released in Q3 2003.

Jim Wilson, EVP of Development, VU Games commented:

"Battlestar Galactica will have an epic feel with dramatic rendered cinematic sequences setting the tone for massive battles in deep space. The game will extend the Battlestar experience for new and old fans, enabling them to engage in Adama's first tour of duty."

Warthog's Managing Director, Ashley Hall, added:

"Battlestar Galactica will be remembered fondly by the target market for the game so, while it is an honour to work on such a big property, it is up to us to make the gaming experience as genuine as possible. By pushing the console technology to its very limits, we are making this happen."
