TECMO® ANNOUNCES FATAL FRAME FOR XBOX
Posted by Ben on Thursday, July 25 2002

TORRANCE, Calif., July 24, 2002 – Tecmo announced that its popular survival-horror title, Fatal Frame™, plans to creep its way over to the Xbox™ video game system from Microsoft into the North American Territory just in time for Halloween. The introduction of the game to Xbox will bring a new sense of terror to the psycho thriller hit that had PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system players chilled to the bone. The edgy chiller brought new originality to the survival-horror video game genre when it was released, creating a large buzz within the gaming community.

With the release of the game for Xbox, Tecmo plans to increase Fatal Frame’s fear factor with added features, new costumes and hidden characters that will add a new sense of dread to the popular game. Fatal Frame’s spooky story will stay the same but the mysteries surrounding the Himuro mansion will be explored in greater detail.

“Fatal Frame is a terrifying, edge-of-your-seat adventure that will have you jumping out of your skin with terror! We wouldn’t want any of our fans to miss out on that experience,” said Tony Tarpey, Marketing Manager for Tecmo.

Unlike other games of its kind, Fatal Frame does not focus on blood, gore, and zombies. It sticks to a much simpler rule of terror – it’s what you cannot see that haunts you the most. The supernatural thriller focuses on its eerie atmosphere and creepy sound effects to keep the players on the edge of their seats. Charles Herold, Video Game Editor for the New York Times, said the game’s unsettling spookiness is due to its atmospheric terror. “Frame’s eerie sounds and moody visuals will have you paralyzed with fear,” he said in his recent review of the game.

The story of Fatal Frame centers around Miku, a young girl with an extraordinary talent for seeing what others cannot. Her brother has gone missing while looking for his mentor in the haunted Himuro Mansion. Miku, distraught by her brother’s disappearance, summons up all of her courage and enters the mansion in hopes she will find some type of clue to lead her to her brother. Loaded with only her sixth sense and her mother’s antique camera she embarks on a spine-tingling journey into the world of the supernatural and unknown. What she finds in her desperate search for truth will haunt your dreams forever.
