Street Hoops
Reviewed by: Ben

Street Hoops is a simple, yet addictive game that is full of fast paced action, but still might not fulfill the hardcore BB Ball fans gaming pleasures.

Gameplay: As in most basketball game, you chose to play as the offensive or defensive team (more lessons in the obvious). Instead of four quarters, you have two halves. Each half lasts five minutes (excluding replays). I think that without all the pauses that normally occur when playing quarters; it makes the game a bit smoother. With controls as simple as they are (more on that later), anyone can pick up this game and start playing.
The main point of the game is to bet on your games, and use your earnings for new threads, jewelry, tattoos, and other things. Unfortunately, none of that stuff affects the way you play. It’s just cosmetic. The only real use for the money is to upgrade the stats on your create-a-player. If you feel lucky, you can take your earnings and bet it on one of your games. How sweet is that?
There are ten different levels from eight different states. They all act almost identically to each other. The only thing that sets them apart from each other is the outside scenery.
There are 11 different players to choose from, and literally thousands of characters you can create in the create-a-player option.
In the end, Street Hoops is a fun fast paced game, but if you’re looking for something with more depth, and a longer gaming experience, you might want to look elsewhere.

Graphics: The graphics in Street Hoops are pretty bland, and very reminiscing of PS2. The character animations really range from “pretty damn realistic” to “Is he doing the robot?”. I should mention that the facial expressions are well created, and look fairly realistic. The only thing that saves Street Hoops from looking like a N64 game is the 720p support (High Definition picture).

Controls: The controls are so simple; any small child could pick up this game and be playing it without confusion. The controls go as follows:
Offensive:
A: Pass the ball
B: Shoot the Ball (tap to fake)
X: Crossover or juke
LT: Run
RT: “Mad Skillz Mode”
Black: “In Yo Face” Moves
Black + Y: Alley-Oop

Defensive:
A: Change to player closest to the ball
B: Push/Check
X: Steal
Y: Attempt to block/rebound missed shot
LT: Run
RT: Defensive Sidestep
Back: Double tap to call a double-team
Left Thumbstick: Click to taunt/celebrate

Replay: This game is perfect for playing at a party with your friends. It is pure fast-paced, in your face basketball. As for the single player game, you will get bored pretty fast. There is just not enough to the game.

Sound: Dolby Digital approved! With 21 tracks from your favorite hip-hop artists such as Cypress Hill, Xzibit, Method Man, and DMX, hip hop fans will enjoy this game just a bit more than the rest of us. For the rest of us that don’t like hip-hop too much (I included), Black Ops has been kind enough to include the custom soundtrack feature. Now you can listen to any song you want (as long as you have it on your Xbox hard drive). All of the sounds in game are surprisingly well done. You can heard all the dribbling, footsteps, the basket bending as you dunk the ball in, EVERYTHING, and its all done well.

Overall Presentation:
