Mad Dash
Reviewed by: Jackle
Mad dash racing has its moments but really this game can get boring and repetitive and is best left as a party game. The game provides a weak single player and an average multiplayer. Worth a rent but purchasing is not recommended.
Gameplay: The game play is about average for your run of the mill Mario cart style racing game, first you must choose a racer from a bunch of cartoon style creatures, then begin racing through dangerous tracks that contain several hazards and traps while trying to hunt down your opponents. You can attack your opponents with various weapons that can knock them off course. Eidos added a stunt type element to Mad Dash to give the game a little jazz but unfortunately due to the lack of stunts available it makes little difference to the game with or without it. The single player factor isn’t quite as good as I presumed, after completing it the game pretty well dies there however it is fun to unlock secret characters now and then. The multiplayer aspect on the other hand can be fun, by challenging your friends to a round of Mad Dash can provide some entertainment but still this game even with friends over can turn dull.
Graphics: Sigh…the graphics for Mad Dash does not live up to anywhere near the true potential of an Xbox perhaps a PS2 but not an Xbox. Mad dash may be an exclusive game for Xbox to me it looks like a port. But I will give some credit for a steady fps and smooth textures.
Controls: The controls have an easy learning curve but can be a pain. In every race there is a point where u must climb or swim to move on in the level and to do this you must complete a numerous amount of 360-degree rotations that are very painful to your thumbs. Aside from that the controls are very basic and easy to learn.
Replay: Credit is to be given to replay because Eidos added some secret characters and a decent multiplayer to the game. As I said this should be considered a party game so I suggest if you bought this game to take to it for another go with your friends or family or if you haven’t discovered all the secrets
Sound: Well not too much to say about the sound, you can hear your racer curse or make some funny yet annoying remarks occasionally but that’s pretty much it. Music isn’t all that great either although big names such as Fat Boy Slim and Crystal Method are included the techno doesn’t quite suit the game.
