NFL 2k3
Reviewed by: Gundam
After a long year of advertising for the new line of Sega Sports games NFL 2k3 is the first to implement support from ESPN.Whenever the NFL 2k series is speaked about, Incredible presentation and quick astute hard hiting gameplay comes to mind. Visual Concepts has worked to completly ameliorate the gameplay to suit the recently aquired ESPN label, By adding thousands upon thousands of new Tackle,Run and pass animations. Not only has the gameplay benfited from the ESPN label but stadiums are almost real, with much improved crowds and very rambunctious sidelines with detailed coaches and players. This game is the complete oppostite of the Madden series and it cleary shows. Sega has gave Xbox gamers a present by including Xbox Live support with the game which makes a huge difference considering EA sports has opted not to include Live support with thier series.
Gameplay: The gameplay is the games top player, It is so quick and adamant you will need to spend time adjusting to the moves because they flow much differently then last years version. I believe the gameplays strong point is the running game, You will need to take full advantage of your linemans blocking or you will not get anywhere. The defense is basically the same as last years version with not to many fixes out side of Defenseive lineman moves, The same can be said for the Passing game which remains intact.
Graphics: Visual Concepts has always when making thier NFL games chose to put more work into the players as opposed to detailing the crowd more and what not. With the game now basically made for Xbox Visual Concepts has taken full advantage of Xbox's huge hard drive by boosting the crowd and Stadium graphics up. The players from shoes to helmet look incredible, every ounce of detail has been put into the players and the result is incredible they look almost real what Visual Concepts has is beyond belief,Combined with the ESPN label the overall graphics presentation is Immense definitly one of the games top feutures.
Controls: IF your looking for Ingenious revoluntary controls look elsewhere, If you want the same controls as last years your welcomed back. Not much to say,but one crucial element that most critics have disregarded is how precise your timing needs to be the difference of how fast you can press the juke button can mean the difference of a 5 yard loss or a 5 yard gain.
Replay: With Sega giving the Xbox version Live support, this is the only way outside of the 30 year Fantasy Dynasty mode you will find replay. you will find little replay value if you don't have Live unless you like playing with 3 other people or just going through another long season.
Sound: The Sound is amazing, The NFL 2k games have always had incredible presentation with great play by play, it has helped to make the experiance much more enjoyable unlike Madden the commentators actually have a sense of humor and do not over use thier Phrase's. The Sounds you will hear throghout the game are very Solid and can be even more enjoyable if you Have Dolby 5.5 :).
Overall Presentation: Hands down best football game for xbox, Sound and Graphics are like no other.
