Hitman 2: Silent Assassin
Reviewed by: Bagel
Hitman 2 is the sequel to the original Hitman on the PC. The story of Hitman 2 is you Agent 47 retired as an assassin until one day your friend, a minister was captured. Then you are offered $500,000 dollars to do a mission and go back into your violent ways…
Gameplay: The gameplay in Hitman 2 consists of shooter and stealth. The game is very open-ended, because there are many different ways to beat each mission. You can actually plan things out, and sneak around killing who you need to, or you can just run through the level killing everybody in sight.
When you first start the game off there is a little tutorial teaching you how to do everything. After you have mastered everything or you feel you are ready to move on you can leave and get started. Throughout the game you will get different hints on what you need to do. For instance, at the beginning if you are walking around to long it will tell you maybe it’s time to go to confession. Another part you have to attend a meeting and if you are taking to long it will tell you the meeting starts in 3 minutes.
There are a few nice new additions in Hitman 2. Like for instance, you can now save whenever you want. Well not exactly, but you have a certain amount of saves per level. Where as in the last Hitman you couldn’t save it, it was automatic. Another new feature in Hitman 2 is the fact that you can switch between first and third person views, which is pretty cool.
Graphics: When it comes to graphics in Hitman 2 everything looks really impressive. All of the environments look great, and the player models are all modeled realistically. The animation in the game is very nice. As it would have to be, considering this is a stealth kind of game. Whether you are sneaking around, running, walking, ducking, it all looks really great.
Controls: The controls for Hitman 2 actually work pretty well with the Xbox controller. It feels kind of weird as now there is no mouse and keyboard, but after a little bit you get the hang of it. In my opinion it is better using a mouse and keyboard, but I think being able to slouch back on your couch or lay on your bed definitely makes up for it.
Replay: Once you beat the main story line of the game there is nothing else. That doesn't take away from the replay value though, because chances are you will probably go back and attempt to beat it a couple more times. Being the game is so open-ended there are many different ways to beat each mission. A multiplayer feature would have been a nice addition to the game. Needless to say, I hope it will be incorporated in the next edition or sequel.
Sound: The sound in Hitman 2 is really good. The voice acting is really nice, they even speak in the languages of there foreign country. The soundtrack is excellent. It was done by some Orchestra and really goes well with this kind of game. All of the weapons sound realistic too. There really isn't that much to say about the sound though, remember, this is a Stealth game... Gotta be quiet.
Overall Presentation: Hitman 2: Silent Assassin is a great sequel to the original on the PC. If you liked that you will definitely enjoy this even better. If you never played the first well then this will be a new experience for you and a good one at that. Definitely pick this up, it will be worth it.
