NFL Fever 2002
Reviewed by: Alclarity
NFL Fever 2002 is no doubt the best of the three 2002 football games out for the Xbox. The only thing missing are the classic superstar players. Can't wait for the sequal? This is the one to get now, keep reading.
Gameplay: The gameplay is fast paced and easily to learn with the tutorial-like "Training Camp" that with completion gives you a few extra "special" teams to play with in exhibition mode. You can unlock even better and more outrageous teams as you complete "Dynasty Mode". Another part of the game allows you to create and trade players. There aren't alot of options you can change with the exception of weather, day/night, pass interference on/off, and period length. The multiplayer is only really fun when playing one on one where when you play four-player you can get pretty confused with the plays and may end up arguing with your teammate on who gets to be QB. The game is fast-paced and keeps you entertained.
Graphics: The graphics are realistic enough and look painful enough when you get tackled. My only real criticism is the tackles take too long to recover from and the tackler usually just hangs over the tacklee instead of rolling over and getting up. Basically I think they just need more animations for movement but you won't notice it unless you play it for a long time. Graphics wasn't really the developers focus but it's look is pretty good for now with no skipping and short load times.
Controls: The controls are easy to learn and every key is placed in the right part of the controller making them compfortable as well. There isn't much of an option to customize them anyway, but you won't have to worry about that.
Replay: The "Dynasty Mode" will keep you busy along with a long season mode. If you are a social person, you will probably keep with exhibition mode the most which is simple and quick to start.
Sound: The sound effects are crisp and sound great with dolby 5.1 where you hear every crushing tackle and every bit of showboating. The only thing that may get on your nerves is the calm/humiliating commentary that you can adjust the volume to mute for if needed, but without it, it just doesn't feel the same.
