Star Wars Starfighter: Special Edition
Reviewed by: Joel

Star Wars Starfighter is a fun fast paced action flying adventure throughout the lands of Star Wars Episode One. Although this is a PS2 port, it does have a few little special add-ons to make it a special edition.

Gameplay: Star Wars Starfighter starts right before Episode One where you are one of three pilots these include Rhys Dallows, Vana Sage and Nym who come together to fight against the evil trade federation.

Once you start playing the actual single player mode you will notice that your missions will consist of a lot of escort missions where certain things must make it through for you to advance to the next mission. Although this sounds like a lot of fun, you will notice that it seems like you are doing the same thing over and over. Which really you are, kill everything in sight without getting yourself killed.

The biggest change from the Playstation 2 version to the XBOX would be the numerous amount of multiplayer modes. These fun multiplayer modes consist of, Capture the Flag, Dogfight, Tag, Hunter, and Detonator Drop. Although this multiplayer modes are quite fun, they really don't have anything that makes Starfighter to be called a special edition.

Graphics: When I first saw the Playstation 2 version of Star Fighter it was one of the poorest looking games I had seen on that console. Lucas Arts has worked with the graphics for the XBOX version and now it looks much better, although not perfect. The area's are what really didn't impress me. I feal that Starfighter does not take full advantage of the XBOX's capabilities. The actual ships are probably the most disappointing out of everything. The ships are not detailed to the slightest bit.

Controls: The controls were excellently mapped throughout the XBOX controller. All the buttons are used, and are used well so there won't be a huge learning curve. I felt that after one or two missions I was very comfortable with the controls and ready to take on the evil trade federation.

Replay: There really is no reason to play this game after you have completed the first player mode. The multiplayer mode will keep you asking for more, for about ten minutes and after that there is just nothing left to do in Starfighter.

Sound: I always think that voice acting can always help a game. I think that holds true in Starfighter where you can witness some excellent voice acting along with the star wars type of music that just gets you in the mood, for a star wars adventure. The sound effects are also very good the sound of lasers hitting the ships sounds great along with the excellent sounding explosions.

Overall Presentation:
