Star Wars Obi-Wan
Reviewed by: Joel

You have probably noticed lately that there have been quite a few Star Wars Episode 1 games, well one of the last one's to use the Episode 1 licensee is now here and it's Star Wars Obi-Wan.

Gameplay: Star Wars Obi-Wan is one of those games, that no matter how bad the game looks or plays, your going to be at awe from you finally being able to fight as Obi Wan, and the ability to use the light saber. Although this sounds great, and it is great for the first ten to twenty minutes of game time, until you begin to realize that Obi-Wan doesn't play as well as any one would hope.

The biggest problem that I had with Star Wars Obi-Wan was the camera angles. It follows Obi-Wan but seems to want to swing around a lot, and gets stuck all the time, which really gets annoying fast. I could see the camera angle working much better if the game was at a slower pace, but with Obi-Wans fast paced action the camera does not work.

The main mode where you are Obi-Wan and take on missions not shown through out the movie. Well there is probably a good reason for this. The first thing you will notice after playing for ten to twenty minutes is the area's are very plain, and you seem to be killing the same boring droids over and over again.

The multiplayer mode (Jedi Battle) is where you and a friend can duel it out as one of the star wars characters. This sounds like a lot of fun, but the fun only lasts for a matter of minutes and it just gets old.

Graphics: The area's in Obi-Wan are just bad. They are extremely plain, there is really nothing to look at. Through the game you will be going through hallway, after hallway, and then all look the same. Obi-Wan himself looks very dull. He is not very detailed, and it really doesn't show anything you would want to brag about by any stretch. Lucas Arts did a terrible job of using the XBOXs capabilities.

Controls: The controls are pretty easy. There is a short learning curve that will take some time to get all the controls down to learn how to use the light saber. After ten to twenty minutes you will be smashing droids and blocking enemy fire back into there face.

Replay: There is no replay value what so ever on Obi-Wan. The single player mission is rather short, if you finish it, and the multiplayer mode looses it's lust after about ten to twenty minutes.

Sound: The voice acting of Obi-Wan was a little odd. I was a little surprised the first time i heard the voice-acting of Obi-Wan. After a little while it starts to sink in, and you will get used to Obi-Wan's new voice. Otherwise the voice acting is strong, when there is voice acting. The actual music is fine if you can handle listening to the Episode 1 music anymore.

Overall Presentation:

Scores:
Gameplay: 6
Graphics: 4
Controls: 7
Replay: 4
Sound: 5

Total Score: 5
